For Lebanese citizens, The following vital records are registered at the Embassy, are regularly sent by diplomatic pouch to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, which in its turn transmits it to the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities, in order to register it in the Lebanese civil registers. The required documents can be sent to the Embassy by post. Applicants are responsible for carrying out the registration procedures and following up with the relevant authorities in Lebanon.

Note: For Palestinian holders of the Lebanese travel document, the Embassy only authenticates civil status documents that have been issued by the competent authorities in the United Kingdom or Ireland and duly attested by the United Kingdom or Ireland Foreign Affairs Office.

  • Required documents:

    • Application for Birth Registration . (completed and printed)

    • Original local birth certificate with two photocopies.

    • Photocopies of Passports of parents’ passports.

    • A family civil extract with 2 photocopies

    • If the spouse is non-Lebanese, a Lebanese marriage certificate of the parents, with two photocopies.

    • If the application is sent by post a return self-addressed stamped envelope is required.

    • Fees: no consular fees

    In the event of direct travel to Lebanon, a new-born may be granted a Laissez-passer —valid for one year— upon submission of the required birth registration documents:

    • Complete the birth registration procedure in the Embassy.

    • Fill out a Laissez-Passer Application Form

    • Father's ID with a copy.

    • Mother's ID with a copy.

    • The presence of both parents at the Embassy to sign a letter of consent in order to deliver a Laissez-Passer is mandatory.

    • Two recent colour photos with a white background (Size length 4.3cm x width 3.5cm) showing full details of the face. The reproduction of an old photo is not accepted.

    • Consular fees: £24.00 British Pounds (Cash payment or postal order)

  • Required documents:

    • The original Marriage Certificate, with 2 photocopies.

    • Two photocopies of a recent Individual(بيان قيد افرادي) and Family Extract of Civil Status(بيان قيد عائلي) (not older than one year) for Lebanese's husbands & spouse.

    • If the spouse is non-Lebanese, two photocopies of his/her detailed birth certificate( translated into Arabic) and passport are required.

    • If the application is sent by post a return self-addressed stamped envelope is required.

    • The original Death Certificate with two photocopies.

    • Two photocopies of a recent Individual or Family Extract of Civil Status (بيان قيد عائلي) for the Deceased.

    • The Lebanese passport and/or the Lebanese identity card of the Deceased, with two photocopies.

    • A marriage certificate issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior is required if the deceased is non-Lebanese.

    • If the application is sent by post a return self-addressed stamped envelope is required.

    One year after registering the marriage in Lebanon, the Lebanese Law gives the right to the wife of a Lebanese Citizen to apply for the Lebanese Citizenship.

    • Both spouses should present themselves personally, by appointment only, after providing the following required documents :

      • The original Wife's Birth Certificate translated to Arabic

      • The original Lebanese Marriage Certificate.

      • A recent Family Extract of Civil Status (بيان قيد عائلي) (not older than three months), showing the registration of the marriage in the Lebanese records.

      • Local document translated into Arabic that states: married to the Lebanese individual [Name].

      • Copy of the wife’s valid passport indicating the statement "Married to [Name]"

      • The husband's Lebanese valid passport.

      • Four photocopies of each original document

      • Fees £39.00 (Cash payment or postal order)

  • Required Documents:

    • A valid Lebanese ID of the Deceased (Identity Card, Passport or Individual Extract of Civil Status).

    • Original passport of the deceased

    • A funeral service could help you to provide the following required documents :

      • Original death certificate

      • Burial Transit Permit

      • Letter of non-contagious diseases issued by an authorized health institution

      • Letter of embalming

    • Two copies of the documents above mentioned.

    • Consular fees: Free of Charge

    • A copy of a Lebanese ID: Valid Passport, or Identify Card (بطاقة هوية), or old Civil Status Record 

    • 2 passport photo (white background) for single civil status record
