To apply for a new Lebanese passport at the Consulate General of Lebanon, please note the following:

  • The presence of the applicant for a new passport at the Embassy is mandatory.

  • The applicant must book an appointment via phone (00 44 207 229 7265 Ext .2)

  • There are two types of passports (electronic and biometric), each with a different application procedure.

  • Citizens between the ages of 15 and 59 who have never previously held a biometric passport are not eligible to apply at the Embassy. They must apply for their first biometric passport in Lebanon through the General Directorate of General Security.

  • The applicant may choose between two delivery options for the issued passport: diplomatic pouch or DHL Fast Track (refer to the processing time below).

  • Fees must be paid in cash (exact amount preferred) .

  • For minors (under 18 years of age):  

  • The presence of both parents is mandatory, or one parent must present a power of attorney from the other.  

    1. In the case of divorce or death, the legal guardian must present valid tutelage documentation issued in Lebanon.

    2. Either parent may collect the passport once issued.

  • Note:

    • Biometric passports have a chip and their numbers are preceded by LR.

    • Machine readable passports (navy Blue) numbers are preceded by RL.

  • The Processing Time for issuing a new passport is as follows:

    • Diplomatic Pouch:

    1. Processing time: two to three months

    2. Status: Applicants can check the status of their application on our website. Please ensure the passport has arrived at the Consulate before coming to collect it. Bring your current passport and the receipt issued at the time of application.

    • DHL Fast Track:

    1. Processing time: four to six weeks  

    2. Application: Applicants may request the DHL Fast Track service by visiting http://fasttracklb.dhl.com. An additional fee is payable online. The DHL document (11 pages) must be submitted along with the passport application at the Consulate.  

    3. Status: Applicants may collect their passport one day after receiving a confirmation email from DHL, bringing their current passport and the original receipt issued at the time of application. 

  • The Embassy will manually renew electronic passports for a period of two years only, provided that the applicant signs an acknowledgment stating their commitment to obtain a new biometric passport from Lebanon within the renewal period. 

    Required documents

    • Current passport + 2 photocopies

    • Proof of residency (Either a British Passport or E-visa share code)

    • A new Lebanese ID or an individual civil extract (ikhraj qayd fardi) + 2 copies

    • 2 recent passport-sized photos with a white background, measuring 3.5 × 4.3 cm

    • Sign a Pledge to obtain a new biometric passport exclusively from Lebanon during the renewal period

    • Fees: £47.00 in cash

    • For minors * the presence of both parents is mandatory

  • A Lebanese citizen may apply for a new biometric passport with a validity of  10 years exclusively for adults and  5 years exclusively for minors.

    Note: Biometric passports cannot be renewed manually. An application for a new passport must be submitted.

    • DHL Fast Track Service document (11 pages) — if opting for this service, after completing the procedure at http://fasttracklb.dhl.com ( optional)  

    • For minors * the presence of both parents is mandatory

    Biometric passport validity and fees

    • Five-year validity: for minors (under 18); Fees £116.00 in cash.

    • Ten-year validity: for adults (over 18); Fees £231.00  in cash.

  • Upon the loss of a Lebanese passport, a citizen may apply for either: a new passport (under specific conditions), or a Laissez-passer to return directly to Lebanon.

    Notes:

    • A new passport may be issued only if the lost passport was biometric, or if the applicant is under the age of 15 or over the age of 60, regardless of the passport type.

    • If the lost passport is of the old electronic type, the applicant must apply for a Laissez-passer and obtain a new biometric passport directly from the General Directorate of General Security in Lebanon.

    • DHL Fast Track Service document (11 pages) — if opting for this service, after completing the procedure at http://fasttracklb.dhl.com ( optional)   

    Biometric passport validity and fees

    • Five-year validity: for minors (under 18); Fees £116.00 in cash.

    • Ten-year validity: for adults (over 18); Fees £231.00 in cash.

  • In the event that a Lebanese passport is lost or damaged, and the applicant intends to return directly to Lebanon, they may submit a request for a Laissez-passer to facilitate their return. The Embassy grants the applicant a Laissez-Passer valid for one month and only for a return to Lebanon.

    Required Documents:

    • Fill out a Laissez-Passer Application Form

    • Fill out the Lebanese Lost Passport Form

    • Proof of residency (Either a British Passport or E-visa share code)​

    • Two copies of:

      • The current Lebanese Passport (if applicable)

      • An Individual Extract of Civil Status (بيان قيد افرادي) which date of issuance does not exceed 10 years, or the original Lebanese ID card (new version).

      • Two recent colour passport-photos with a white background (size length 4.3cm x width 3.5cm) showing full details of the face. The reproduction of an old photo is not accepted.

    • Fees: £24.00

    In the event of direct travel to Lebanon, a new-born may be granted a Laissez-passer —valid for one year— upon submission of the required birth registration documents:

    • Complete the birth registration procedure in the Embassy.

    • Fill out a Laissez-Passer Application Form

    • Father's ID with a copy.

    • Mother's ID with a copy.

    • The presence of both parents at the Embassy to sign a letter of consent in order to deliver a Laissez-Passer is mandatory.

    • Two recent colour photos with a white background (Size length 4.3cm x width 3.5cm) showing full details of the face. The reproduction of an old photo is not accepted.

    • Consular fees: £24.00 British Pounds (Cash payment or postal order)
